Join us in paying tribute to Hancock County poet James Whitcomb Riley. We’ll listen to, read, and write poetry at the Twenty North Gallery, 20 N. State St., in Greenfield. Here’s the line-up:

  • Ongoing: Reflect on life in the simplest of terms. Write your memoir on our gallery wall using only six words. Ernest Hemingway’s version was “For Sale, Baby Shoes, Never Worn.”
  • 10 AM-12 PM: Kids Korner in Greenfield will read aloud during this time. Young children are invited to join them in the gallery.
  • 1 PM-2 PM: Listen to poetry readings from poets, publishers, freelance writers, playwrights, and essayists who have found a home in Indiana:  (see their biographies) Jason L. Ammerman, Michael Brockley, Dan Carpenter, Rosaleen Crowley, James Green, Barry Harris, Liza Hyatt, JL Kato, Leah McNaughton Lederman, Frederick Michaels, Lylanne Musselman, Jeffrey Owen Pearson, Mary Sexson, Natalie Solmer, and George Wolfe.
  • 2-3 PM: Take a break during a coffee tasting with “Scattered Bean Coffee.” These connoisseurs have perfected the art of small-batch coffee roasting to ensure the freshest and most flavorful cup. Savor the difference between fresh-roasted and store-bought beans.
  • 3-4 PM: Reading continues from the poets above. As a fundraiser, “Bards on the Run” Michael Brockley and Jeffrey Owen Pearson will write made-to-order poetry on the spot for only $5.
